All-new Mazda6 scores 5-Star Euro NCAP safety rating

New Mazda6 is officially one of the safest cars on British roads

The all-new Mazda6 is officially one of the safest cars on the road in Britain after receiving a 5-Star safety rating in the latest Euro NCAP tests, the highest rating possible.  The result endorses Mazda’s strategy of enhancing the safety of all its new vehicles by introducing such innovations as the impact-absorbing SKYACTIV-Body technology.

Both the Mazda6 saloon and tourer scored top marks in all four Euro NCAP categories after undergoing several crash tests.  The scores achieved by the all-new Mazda6 were adult occupant protection (92%), child occupant protection (77%), and safety assist systems (81%) – comfortably above the 80%, 60% and 65% thresholds in these categories required to collect a 5-Star rating overall.  The all-new Mazda6 also scored 66% for pedestrian safety, one the best marks in Europe among vehicles tested this year.

“While the all-new Mazda6 is more powerful and more fuel efficient than ever before, thanks to its SKYACTIV technology, it is also lighter and stronger, featuring ultra-high tensile steel and other innovations which reinforce the body’s structures and its passive safety performance.  This is underpinned by our range of driver-supporting active safety technology which helps prevent accidents in the first place and reduce their severity should one be unavoidable,” comments Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda UK.

All-new Mazda6 is the fourth Mazda to have earned a 5-Star rating from Euro NCAP under the stringent new scoring system introduced in 2009, joining the previous generation Mazda6, the current Mazda3 and the new Mazda CX-5. The all-new Mazda6 is well-prepared for the future.
