With the all‑electric Mazda CX‑6e, Mazda introduces a new interpretation of interior design that combines advanced electric vehicle architecture with the brand’s long‑standing dedication to craftsmanship and Japanese aesthetics.

Craftsmanship focused on everyday use
At the core of the CX‑6e interior is Mazda’s belief that craftsmanship is experienced through daily interaction. Designers focused not only on how materials look, but on how they feel and perform over time. Surfaces and finishes were chosen to deliver precision and consistency, supporting long‑term quality and sustainability while maintaining a refined appearance.
Clean design inspired by Japanese principles
The interior follows the Japanese concept of Ma, which emphasises space and balance. In the CX‑6e, this results in a clean, uncluttered cabin that feels open and calm. A horizontal dashboard design, combined with an illuminated signature element, creates a strong sense of width. The full‑length panoramic sunroof brings natural light into the cabin, further enhancing the feeling of space.

“With the Mazda CX‑6e, our ambition was to create an interior that feels soulful and deeply human, even in the context of electrification. We explored bold proportions and clean, sculptural surfaces to express innovation, while carefully integrating materials and details that invite touch and interaction. The result is an interior that feels modern and progressive, yet calm, welcoming and unmistakably Mazda.” – said Jo Stenuit, Mazda Motor Europe‘s Design Director.
New interior architecture: Space, calm and clarity
Built on a dedicated electric platform, the CX‑6e introduces a new interior layout developed with significant European input. The focus was on clarity and ease of use. Controls and displays are positioned logically to reduce distraction and support a natural driving experience. The simplified layout also improves space for both front and rear passengers, making the CX‑6e well suited for everyday use as well as longer journeys.

“The electric platform allowed us to rethink the interior completely. We focused on space, clarity and intuitive use to meet the expectations of European customers.”- said Filip Boshevski, Lead Interior Designer, Mazda Motor Europe.
Colour and Trim
Colour and trim choices for the CX‑6e interior are rooted in Japanese design principles of harmony and balance. The goal was to create interiors that feel modern, calm and long‑lasting.
Three interior options are available:
- Warm Beige Maztex (Takumi)
- Black Maztex (Takumi)
- Two‑tone Amethyst and White Maztex (Takumi Plus)
“We focused on creating balanced colour combinations that feel timeless. By carefully coordinating tones, textures and lighting, we aimed to design an interior that supports relaxation and emotional wellbeing, while subtly expressing Mazda’s Japanese heritage in a modern electric context. Our main inspiration for colour contrast was Japanese art, particularly the work of Hiroshi Senju, which guided our colour exploration.” – said Alena Gersonde, Senior Designer Colour & Material design Mazda Motor Europe.
With the CX‑6e, Mazda shows how electric vehicle interiors can combine technology, usability and design. The result is a spacious, intuitive cabin developed with strong European input and rooted in Mazda’s design heritage.
The all-new Mazda CX-6e will arrive in the UK later this year.
