Windsors Mazda showcases the Mazda CX-60 at The Open Championship

Windsors Mazda has showcased the new Mazda CX-60 at The Open Championship, proving Mazda’s first plug-in hybrid was the perfect caddie for the annual golf tournament.

Held at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club between 16th and 23rd July, the 151st Open Championship saw more than 250,000 spectators watch as Brian Harman mastered his way through each day to become Championship Golfer of the Year.

Working in partnership with Helimates, the fleet of Mazda CX-60 vehicles were based at the Royal Liverpool Golf Club’s helibase and utilised to chauffeur VIPs, golfers, celebrities and special guests across the six days. With a uniquely premium cabin experience deeply rooted in Japanese heritage, guests were able to travel in style while also making full use of the CX-60’s 570-litre boot space.

Commenting on the event, Paul Seddon, Group Manager at Windsors of Wallasey, said “‘Having The Open Golf Championship on Wirral was not only a historic event but a deserving privilege for the area. Seeing the Wirral community come together and create such an amazing atmosphere and setup, and providing a warm welcome to visitors from all over the world was truly humbling.”

Adding, “Providing cars for the event not only gave us the chance to play our part but also showcased Mazda in the category they belong. We had nothing but positive feedback from everyone who saw or travelled in the CX-60s. As a long-standing company, steeped in history ourselves, Windsors Mazda were proud to play our part in 151st Open Championship.”

Having launched with Mazda’s first plug-in hybrid technology powertrain, which combines a Skyactiv-G 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with a 129kW electric motor and a 17.8 kWh high-capacity battery – the CX-60 range has now expanded with the addition of the all-new in-line six-cylinder 3.3-litre e-Skyactiv D diesel engine.

Both the Mazda CX-60 PHEV and the CX-60 e-Skyactiv D MHEV are offered in three highly specified model grades: Exclusive-Line, Homura and Takumi. The imposing strength of the Mazda CX-60’s beautiful and dynamic styling conveys the intelligence and elegance of the latest developments in Kodo design woven into the toughness of the striking front-engine, rear-wheel drive SUV architecture.
