Two members of Mazda UK senior management team have been honored in Autocar’s Great Women in the British Car Industry initiative, which celebrates the top 100 women in the British automotive sphere.
Run by Autocar Magazine in association with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the industry’s top 100 were announced online during a digital event on the 16th September.
For the first time this year, the initiative recognises both foreign nationals based in Britain and working in the car industry, as well as all British passport holders working anywhere in the global car industry.
As in previous years, the top 100 women were selected from the following areas of the car industry: Aftersales and workshop, Executive, Marketing, Manufacturing, Operations, People development, PR and communications, Sales, Vehicle development, Mobility, Digital and Apprentices.
From Mazda UK, Marketing Director Claire Andrews was nominated in the Marketing category, and Head of Retail Operations Laura Brailey in the Manufacturers’ Sales section.
Leading marketing for Mazda in the UK since 2009, Claire Andrews said: “I’m thrilled to be honoured alongside so many talented women in the car industry by Autocar and proud to be representing Mazda. Inclusivity is vitally important so that we retain and attract the very best talent. I hope that these awards not only recognise achievement but also inspire other women to reach their full potential in the automotive industry for greater diversity based on their capability as the best person for the role.”
Adding, “I’m very grateful for the career support I have received at Mazda over the years. I’d also like to recognise that behind every Great British Woman there is a great team!”
Overseeing Mazda’s dealer network in the UK, Laura Brailey said: I’m very proud to be able to represent Mazda in this great initiative that recognizes the huge pool of talented women in our industy.
