Visiting Mazda UK gave Moro-san a closer look at Mazda’s second-largest European market by sales volume, with a focus on successfully delivering cars in the UK’s rapidly changing market. During the visit, he also took part in an in-person town hall with managers from across the Mazda UK business. Another focus of the trip was the strength and sustainability of the Mazda dealer network in the UK.

Commenting on this, Mazda Motors UK, Managing Director, Jeremy Thomson, said: “as the sector transitions to new technologies, faces complex operating challenges and exciting opportunities, our dealer networks remain one of our most important strategic assets. We may not always be the largest partner for many dealer groups, but we always seek to be the most trusted partner and deliver long-term business success.”

As part of this engagement with the Mazda UK business and its dealer partners, Moro-san experienced the UK retail environment first-hand, visiting Hendy Tunbridge Wells. Located less than 40 minutes away from Mazda UK headquarters in Dartford, Hendy’s new flagship dealership in the famous Kent spa town opened in 2025. One of the UK’s longest established dealer groups, having begun as a bicycle business in 1859 before opening its first car sales establishment in 1890 – today Hendy Group now represents 22 brands across 70 locations in southern England.

The family-owned and run business started its Mazda journey in 2008 with franchises in Horsham and Eastleigh, while Royal Tunbridge Wells was added to their Mazda representation in 2018. To date Hendy Group has sold 17,232 Mazda cars. During his visit Moro-San met with Hendy Group, CEO, Paul Hendy, the fifth-generation of the Hendy family to lead the business.

“It was a pleasure to welcome Masahiro Moro to our Tunbridge Wells dealership and share more about Hendy’s Mazda journey. His visit demonstrates the importance Mazda places on its dealer partners and the value of strong relationships across the network”, commented, Paul Hendy, CEO, Hendy Group.

Adding,  “as a family-run business, we understand the importance of long-term partnerships and we have proudly represented Mazda since 2008. We were delighted to showcase our new Tunbridge Wells dealership, highlight the dedication of our colleagues and discuss the exciting opportunities ahead for both our businesses as Mazda continues to expand its electrified vehicle range”.

Across the Mazda UK dealer network, Mazda’s multi-solution approach of selling BEV, PHEV and mild- hybrid vehicles ensures dealers have the cars that customers want today and in the future. The visit to Mazda UK’s dealer network comes in one of the busiest and most exciting years for Mazda in the UK – with the launch of three all new cars in 2016: the all-new Mazda CX-5 and all-new Mazda6e arrive in dealerships this summer with the all-new Mazda CX-6e battery electric SUV launching later in the year.
